Frederick Earl Shideman was born on 16 October 1915 in Albion, Michigan. He earned his B.A. from Albion College (Albion, MI) in 1936, his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1941 and his M.D. from the University of Michigan in 1946.
